Artists statement

As humans, we live in the present, yet we are influenced by our past and our subconscious mind. Sexuality is one of the main forces that permeates the border between thought and reality, triggers occur, sensations are experienced, heart flutterings, mental images popping up when least expected. I paint about sex and relationships. My colour palette is sometimes lurid, sometimes tranquil, somewhat like the colours and emotions of sex. In this series I convey the feeling of the act, challenging the viewer to gaze beyond the physicality of the representation. This work explores the cognitive element of sexuality. Here are consenting adults portrayed in sexy clinches. It’s playful and fun, to elicit a smile, or a wink and nudge, a memory or perhaps a tingle down your spine.
